Vibrant cherry perfumes combine with red and black berry fruit especially currants, blackberry and raspberry. These give way to tertiary aromas of black pepper, cloves, cinnamon and vanilla oak with distinct, pleasing balsam notes.
Well-structured and spiced, the perfumes on the nose are carried through to an elegant palate, with leather and tobacco and a long, complex finish.
The selected grapes are de-stemmed and crushed, then fermented at a controlled temperature with its own indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously in large, not toasted barrels.
The wine is aged in large, not toasted barrels for several months and then refined in the bottle. The Riserva is produced only in the best years with a selection of grapes.
